Finding Your Footing is led by Kareemah Batts and Melissa Ruiz, two competitors on the USA Paraclimbing Team whose relationship has grown through mentorship, coaching, friendship, and competition.
Kareemah is the founder and Executive Director of Adaptive Climbing Group and the first female paraclimber to compete in USA Climbing. She created Finding Your Footing from more than 15 years of introducing people to climbing and helping new climbers enter the sport without pressure or intimidation.
Melissa began as Kareemah’s paraclimbing mentee and has since become one of her coaches, teammates, and close friends. She brings a strong eye for movement and technique, along with the personal understanding that every climber finds their own way through the sport.
Together, Kareemah and Melissa offer a welcoming, hands-on climbing experience shaped by their different strengths and their shared journey as competitive athletes.
All proceeds from Finding Your Footing help Kareemah and Melissa cover the costs of competing at international Paraclimbing World Cups.
